Prague Highlights To Explore on Your Own

Exploring Prague will be a highlight of your trip if you have a few hours or a few days. Here are some highlights to consider with your time.

Prague Castle – Once home to Bohemian Kings and Queen this castle is now the official residence of the Czech Republic’s President. Construction on this masterpiece started in 870 AD and is the largest castle complex in the world. While visiting you may also see the St. Vitus Cathedral. You may purchase tickets and tours through their website or ask the concierge at the hotel for assistance. One way to go to or from this Castle is Tram No. 22. See notes below. Otherwise it is about a 20 – 30 minute walk from the hotel. 119 08 Praha 1

The Lennon Wall –  Velkoprevorské námestí, 100 00 Praha . Since the 1980s this once typical wall has been filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti, lyrics from Beatles’ songs, and designs relating to local and global causes.

The Olsany Cemetery – Vinohradská 1835/153, 130 00 Praha 3. Once laid out for as many as two million burials, the graveyard is particularly noted for its many remarkable art nouveau monuments.

Old/New Synagogue – Maiselova 18, 110 01 Josefov, Czechia. Also called the Altneuschul, it is Europe’s oldest active synagogue and the oldest surviving medieval synagogue of twin-nave design.
