The Romanian Capital city is perfect for exploration by foot but also has a good public and private transport system: taxis, uber, trams and busses are widely available so buy a day pass to hop on and off.

Exploring Bucharest will be a highlight of your trip if you have a few hours or a few days. Here are some things to consider with your free time.
Why not take a look at the recently opened to the public Ceausescu Mansion, this palace reveals the life of the last communist dictator’s family. Or take in the old town where you will see several hundred years architecture and visit one of its many cafes or bars or visit the wonderful Stavropoleos Monastery. For nature lovers, try a visit to Cismigiu Gardens, build on a landfill site.
Bucharest Museums, Libraries and Theater’s
Bucharest has over 30 varied museums covering art and design, nature and natural history, science and technology, history and anthropology and some covering specific areas such as Museum of the History of the Romanian Jewish Community. If the weather permits why not take in the Herastrau Park or Muzeul Naţional al Satului “Dimitrie Gusti”. This outdoor museum includes more than 300 buildings representing the history of Romania’s rural architecture. Bucharest also has a number of libraries including the Saint Sava College library opened in 1859 when 1000 French volumes were archived. Others include the National Library, Biblioteca FFFF and Librairie Kyralina.
The Romanian capital has a number of theatres including the prestigious National Theatre in addition productions new and old can be seen at the Godot Café Theater The Bulandra Theatre The Tandarica Theatre and The Odeon theatre

Bucharest has a very limited LGBT + scene with currently only one small venue listed.
