Thailand has made significant progress in LGBTQ+ rights, with same-sex marriage and adoption legalized in 2025. The country also has anti-discrimination protections covering sexual orientation and gender identity. Bangkok is generally safe for LGBTQ+ travelers, with a thriving queer scene and welcoming spaces. However, public displays of affection may attract attention, and legal protections against discrimination remain incomplete.

For more details, check out Queer in the World’s LGBTQ+ rights guide here or World Nomads’ LGBTQ+ travel safety advice here.
