Budapest Highlights To Explore on Your Own

Exploring Budapest will be a highlight of your trip if you have a few hours or a few days. In your own time consider a visit to  the beautiful St Stephen’s Basilica or the Hungarian National Parliament. Or simply walk in both Buda and Pest and soak up the atmosphere. Budapest has some wonderful shops and restaurants situated minutes from the hotel so explore at leisure.

Traditional Budapest Baths– Open To the public

Rudas Bath –Rudas Gyogyfurdo es Uszoda, H-1013 – on the Buda side, close to the Elizabeth Bridge. Men only on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Women only on Tuesdays. Saturday and Sunday are mixed and suits are compulsory. Spa treatments and mineral pool.

Gellert Spa and Bath – Kelenhegyi Ut 4 H-118  – on the Buda side, close to the Liberty Bridge. Mixed men and women. Full range of spa treatments and mineral pools. 

Szechenyi Bath   – Azechenyi Gyogyfurdo es Uszoda H-1146  – situated in the city park

Restaurant Recommendations

Consult your hotel Concierge for reservations as hours may vary.

 Aszu Restaurant –  Sas utca 4., Budapest 1051.  A purveyor of modern cuisine that understands its roots. Excellent food, wine and great service and sometimes live music. A close walk from the chain bridge on the Pest side.

Caviar and Bull – Erzsebet korut 43.-49.  Adjacent to the Corinthia Hotel, it seeks to present a unique dining concept to all its patrons. Local fresh ingredients, sourced from the best suppliers harmoniously coexist with  signature dishes and key staples of Hungarian cuisine such as the use of the local grey cattle, Mangalica pig, Foie gras, paprika and Tokaj wine.

Mazi – Alkotmany utca 19.  Greek chef, and proper greek meals. Excelent service, very nice place. It is on the expensive side, but worth it. The owner and chef are greek and the food is truly authentic greek with some slight Hungarian flavouring.

Hungarikum Bisztro – Steindl Imre u. 13.  Real unpretentious Hungarian food, nice staff in a cozy environment accompanied by Hungarian music.

Paprika – Dozsa Gyoergy ut 72 Traditional Hungarian food near the Jewish quarter. Nice portions and good service.

LGBT+ Nightlife

Budapest is a wonderful and vibrant city with a fun and vibrant LGBT + scene. We will aim to have maps at our hospitality desk, or here is a good online resource for gay/gay friendly cafés and bars HERE.  Please ensure that the venues are operational and open before attending.

Club 93 – Vas utca 2.  A longstanding venue. Great for a quick drink or a quick bite. Try their pastas or pizzas.

Habroló Bisztró Szép utca 1/b – One of the more popular gay bars in the city. Not huge, but comfortable. Very lively karaoke session on Sunday. 

Café And Dessewffy u. 30, 1066 – A mixed cafe bar that opens early in the morning and stays opened late at night. 

Coxx  – Dohány utca 38 – A cruising bar with a large play area. Some special events on Sunday night. Especially busy on Friday and Saturday.

Club Alter Ego – VI. Kerulet Dessewffy utca 33c  – Most popular dance club. Hip crowd, cool space. Drag show at 1:30am nightly. Dark room.

 Why Not Café & Bar – Belgrád rakpart 3-4, Budapest, Hungary – One of the more popular gay bars in the city. Not huge, but comfortable. Sometimes karaoke on Sunday.

Why Not Bistro  – Gay-friendly restaurant & café, powered by Why Not Café & Bar, located on the bank of Danube.

Saunas

Magnum Sauna – Csepreghy utca 2- The oldest and busiest sauna in Budapest  features dry sauna, steam bath, cruising cellar, movie room, dark room, cabins, massage, bar.

Szauna 69 – Angyal utca 2, Budapest – Budapest’s favourite gay sauna, located in the southeast of the city. Szauna 69 features Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, private cabins, solarium, massage service, free WiFi and café bar.
